Week 5 is Live
Let's get right down to business. This week was pretty light, but we tried out a new schedule and I think it was fairly successful. Time for a recap.
As per our new schedule, we had 2 posts this week. On Thursday we talked a bit about how Points of Interest weren't the end all be all for NPC quest generation in ARventure. Then on Sunday we finally went over the plan for how quests would actually play out. Not much in the way of real development, but it was definitely time to lay my cards on the table and see what I was playing with.
Moving forward, I will try to stick with this sort of schedule. The intention was to use the Thursday post for planning and the Sunday post for a progress report, but I ended up changing things a bit. And it was fine. The problem with daily posting was when I didn't have progress to report and that problem persists even with only 2 posts per week. Instead, I'll simply try to pump out 2 posts a week about whatever I've got to post about. That said, I will be somewhat lax with this schedule. My aim is for one post on Wednesday or Thursday and another on Saturday or Sunday, but you know me. There will be 2 posts per week if there's 2 posts worth of stuff to write about.
Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about this coming week. I actually do have some things in mind to write about to look forward to. First off, I've got a tiny side project that I'd like to bang out in a day or so. Just a simple port of a nice little utility I found over on Github. Then I've also got some amusing bit of news relating to the blog to share. I know I'm being a bit coy here, but I don't want to spoil the surprise.
As you may have noticed, my upcoming plans do not include ARventure. Don't panic! My side project is intended to be integrated into the game and other projects to improve my workflow. For ARventure in particular, I plan to move towards a data driven system for quests and this project is a key part of that move. My attempts to stay secretive about this are probably hyping the project out of proportion, but I'm excited for it. Stay tuned for that.
